Description
Holy Basil is associated with the goddess Lakshmi, wife of Vishnu, who was known as “the Queen of Herbs.” It is from a class of herbs known as “adaptogens” that support the human body’s ability to deal with stress.
As you can imagine, Tulsi is known for its calming effects. It is a valuable herb in Ayurveda for a variety of conditions including anxiety, indigestion and vomiting, hiccups, back pain, skin conditions and many more.
In essential oil form, Tulsi has a pungent, sweet, spicy aroma reminiscent of basil and cloves. The clove-like quality comes from a component called eugenol, a terpene (powerful scent chemicals) which is found in both herbs.
